NEW Blitzen Trapper Kickstarter

Kevidently 2/28/16
Hey there Blitzen Trapper fans! I've got a brand-new Kickstarter I'd like to share with you. FURR: Inside Blitzen Trapper's Breakthrough Album is a big project requiring a lot of work: research, reading, interviews, travel, and more. It's my most ambitious Kickstarter yet, and the best thing is: the band - BLITZEN TRAPPER ITSELF - is providing rewards on all levels, from stickers all the way up to BACKSTAGE PASSES. Check out the project and consider helping a poor boy get a book made:

Kev,

I have funded your kickstarter - good luck.

I've read a few of the 33 1/3 books and some are fantastic whilst unfortunately some are mainly the author having a self indulgent jerk off about growing up (see the Pavement Wowee Zowee one... ugh..) or even some by people who don't even like the band (see the Ween chocolate and cheese one... puke..)

I have no doubts about you on the latter and high hopes on the former - my advice is keep it fun, make the focus the band and the music and have a good time writing it.

Good luck and god speed.

Junglelove - yeah, the one on Neil Young's Harvest: he likes some of the album but just HATES some of it.  It's interesting. I'm going to try to straddle the line between academic and accessible. It helps that I love the band, and all the songs on this record.

Oh, and here's a rough cut of the opening paragraph:

"Portland, late aughts.  The local music scene is hitting the national stage in a big way.  The Shins had surged in popularity thanks to a song on the Garden State soundtrack, and an appearance on Saturday Night Live.  The Decemberists had signed to Capitol, Bruce Springsteen’s label.  The third release by Iron & Wine, The Shepherd’s Dog, arrived via the hugely influential label SubPop, and hit #24 on the Billboard album charts.  Bands like Menomena were self-producing and getting rave notices from Pitchfork, the online Chicago-based music journal now known for “breaking” indie bands.  And Blitzen Trapper, whose first two self-produced records had received some local notice, was about to get major.  Their third record, Wild Mountain Nation, received a “Best New Music” designation in Pitchfork and its title track made Rolling Stone’s “100 Best Songs of 2007” list.  SubPop was so interested in the band that they’d released Nation overseas on their label.  Blitzen Trapper was primed to make a bold entrance into the seemingly oxymoronic world of mainstream indie pop … and they would not disappoint."
